Severe Toothaches

Tooth pain may be caused by cavities, infection, cracked teeth, or grinding/clenching. Rinse your mouth with warm water and gently floss around the area to remove any trapped food or debris. Over-the-counter pain medication may help temporarily, but avoid placing medication directly on the gums or tooth. Call our office promptly, especially if pain is severe or accompanied by swelling.

Cracked Or Chipped Tooth

Save any broken pieces if possible and rinse your mouth with warm water. A cold compress can help reduce swelling until you are seen.

Knocked Out Teeth

Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root. Gently rinse it with water if dirty, but do not scrub it. If possible, carefully place the tooth back into the socket and hold it in place while heading to our office. If reinserting the tooth is not possible, keep it moist in milk or inside the cheek and contact our office immediately. Time is critical for saving the tooth.

Lost Crowns Or Fillings

Keep the area clean and avoid chewing on that side of your mouth. Bring the crown if you still have it and contact our office for repair.
